Contests, training and new moves!

When you are competing time flies.

It was not such a long time ago when I was writing before PWA and now we are done! The Lanzarote event is over. Fuerteventura is over and now I’m training in Fuerte with 40+ knots.

So let’s start from the beginning.

Lanzarote event was a first event for me after a 1.5 year break. So my ranking and seeding was bad that’s why I was against Steven van Broeckhoven. I was trying to fight but Steven was sailing out of the league and was looking like someone who will dominate this event. So I lost in the first heat of the single and was waiting for the double.

Double elimination came and I was against the Frenchman Julien Mas. I heard about him sailing good but I was up for a challenge. Unfortunately the condition were changing a lot so I went out on the water with the wrong sail. This didn’t help me to land my moves. It was close but Julien landed some great tricks.

So after that the wind was not strong enough to start the next elimination so it was over for me. I was waiting for my home spot in Fuerteventura.

When I got back to Fuerte it was the typical weather. 3.9 Blacktip and RRD 88. That was perfect. For almost three weeks we had really strong wind and after that the PWA event started and…

No wind! The forecast was looking bad. Really bad. Some of the guys were thinking we are not going to finish single elimination. But Sotavento showed why it’s one of the best spots in the world. Despite bad forecast we had wind every afternoon. I was using mostly my Blacktip 4.8 which was perfect.

First heat and I won! Good to start like that after such a long time without competition. Second round and I was against Gollito. I was sailing good and looking at the score sheets later on I was leading the first half of the heat. Then Gollito landed few big moves and I crashed few big moves which supposed to be my ticket to top 8. Not this time.

The double started good for me and I won my first heat. I had a highest score (22 points out of 30) from all of the heats in the first round. I was happy about that and fully motivated went to battle Edvan de Souza Pedro. I sailed a very good heat. Even better then the high scoring one from the first round and…. 18 points. So I sailed better but got less points and I lost to Edvan by 0.5 a point on every score sheet. Pretty unlucky. So unfortunately like in Lanzarote we didn’t had enough wind to start another elimination which was over for me.

All in all I was happy about my sailing but not about my result so I guess I need a little more luck next time. Oh, and more wind also.

After the event again Fuerteventura was going off! Since the day after the contest until now we have 40 knots or more.

I was training hard that time and even laded my new combo move: Gozzada into Burner:

I’m pretty happy about that as I never seen this combination on video or on any contest.

Now when the events are over I can start working again on my media project so stay tuned for more and a high wind freestyle clip is coming shortly!

During the event in Bonaire I’m still training for the upcoming event in Lanzarote which start on the 30th of June. I can’t wait to go against all the guys after a 2 years without competing. Last weeks in Fuerte were really good. most of the time I was using my Simmers 4.8 and 4.2 Blacktips. I was using only RRD 88 which suits perfectly for those conditions. I’m sending few pictures from last session in Sotavento.

I set my release dates for freestyle podcasts. It will be one before the Lanzarote event and then the second one right after the event.

W trakcie jak toczy się walka na PWA na Bonaire ja w dalszym ciągu przygotowuje się do eliminacji na Lanzarote które zaczyna się 30 czerwca. Już nie mogę się doczekać kiedy zmierzę się z innymi zawodnikami po dwóch latach przerwy. Ostatnie tygodnie na Fuercie przyniosły nam bardzo dobre warunki. Przeważnie używam żagli Simmera 4.8 lub 4.2 Blacktip. Jedyną deską jaka używam jest RRD 88. To w pełni wystarcza na te warunki. Przesyłam kilka zdjęć z ostatniej sesji na Sotavento.

W zakładce Lessons możecie również znaleźć informacje o najbliższym szkoleniu które odbędzie się w lipcu oraz sierpniu.

Ustaliłem już też daty wypuszczenia podcastów. Pierwszy ukaże się przed eliminacją na Lanzarote a kolejny zaraz po.

It’s been a while since my last post. Last time I had a pleasure to show you my latest movie from Tarifa. It was autumn 2010. What happened since then? Why I didn’t write? What I was doing? Where to start…

Problems with my hand didn’t let me start in the World Cup on the Canary Islands so my season was over before it even started. Well maybe with one exception in Podersdorf. The last event in 2010 was the event in Sylt, Germany. It was the same date as my final operation on my hand so I decided I will not compete for that season. Then it was winter and my negotiations with the sponsors about next year. Then I made the decision…

I’ve chosen the place and since April this year I’m living in Fuerteventura! At this moment I know I will stay here for another year. What then and how I will decide later.

So let’s concentrate on what I will do here. First of all let me send big thanks and appreciation to my sponsors which are supporting me in this season as well. I will still be riding RRD boards, sail on Simmer Style sails and use accessories from Da Kine. These companies after two years of injuries are still supporting my sailing and made it possible to move here and send you news from Fuerte!

However I have two new sponsor and that is Go Pro – the leading manufacturer of remote HD cameras, because of what my videos will gain few extra angles and JFK Studio which will do all the editing, correcting and a after effecting all of my footage.

Ok, ok but what with that Fuerteventura? First of all, this month I will start renewed Freestyle Podcasts! The whole formula will be changed and will send a simple message: from windsurfers to windsurfers and it will be YOU who will decide what is going to be released on next episode of Freestyle Podcasts. Each episode will be divided into few parts: interview, tips and tricks, travel, your questions and most interesting news from windsurfing. For sure it will be more clear when the first episode will be released. Definately you can already send me your ideas what topics you want on Freestyle Podcasts. Secondly if someone of you is in Fuerteventura at the moment or is coming here and would like to have someone help him with his new maneuver, polish his freestyle skills or just simply improve his windsurfing then I’m available for private lessons and courses. This will be also a new page called “Lessons” where I will post all new information’s about upcoming clinics or courses.

Minęło trochę czasu od mojego ostatniego wpisu. Ostatni raz miałem przyjemność zaprezentować Wam mój film z Tarify. To była jesień 2010 roku. Co wydarzyło się od tamtego czasu? Czemu tak długo nie pisałem? Czy w ogóle pływałem? Od czego tu zacząć…

Problemy z ręką uniemożliwiły mi starty w pucharze Świata na wyspach kanaryjskich w sezonie 2010 i tak na prawdę sezon dla mnie był skończony zanim się zaczął… nie licząc występu w Podersdorfie. Ostatnią eliminacją były zawody na Sylcie w Niemczech ale tam tez nie wystartowałem bo tak się złożyło że akurat w tym terminie mogłem do końca wyleczyć rękę. Potem nastąpiła zima i negocjacje ze sponsorami na temat przyszłego sezonu. Wtedy też podjąłem decyzje…

Wybrałem miejsce i od kwietnia tego roku jestem mieszkańcem jednej z wysp kanaryjskich a mianowicie Fuerteventury! Na te chwile wiem ze będę tu na pewno rok. Co później i w jakim wymiarze dopiero zadecyduje.

Więc teraz skoncentruje się na czym będzie polegał mój wyjazd na Fuerte. Przede wszystkim chciałbym podziękować swoim dotychczasowym sponsorom i tym którzy wspierają mnie i w tym sezonie. Będę dalej pływał na deskach RRD, żaglach Simmer Style oraz używał osprzętu Da Kine. Te firmy po dwóch latach kontuzji dalej wspierają moje pływanie i to dzięki nim mogę Wam dostarczać informacji z Fuerty!

Każdy odcinek będzie podzielony na kilka części czyli: wywiad, tip and tricks z zakresu freestyle, porady dotyczące podróży, wasze pytania oraz jakaś nowinka ze świata windsurfingu. Na pewno wszystko będzie bardziej zrozumiałe kiedy wyemitujemy pierwszy odcinek. Na pewno już teraz możecie wysyłać do mnie swoje propozycje co chcielibyście znaleźć we freestyle podcast na kuba@pol288.com

Ponadto jeżeli ktoś z Was jest na fuercie lub wybiera się na Fuerte i chciałby wziąć udział w szkoleniu, chciałby nauczyć się swojego ulubionego manewru lub po prostu podszkolić się to jestem dostępny na prywatne lekcje i kursy.
